The Design Den is headed by Chantelle Caruth, who found her passion for all things creative while at school and went on to study fine arts. She worked with textiles and production in a cmt environment for a few years, she has teamed up with her mom to make up the curtains and blinds for the revamp of the Blue Waters Hotel in 2010; all contributing to a good understanding of fabrics and the sewing process. Her side hussle has always been photography and after years of photographing weddings she explored the real estate industry, gaining valuable insight into people’s homes and what it takes to create spaces that appeal to the wider public. She tried her hand at expanding her canvas and putting her love of art onto walls...and then cupboards...and then tiles and furniture and even ceilings; using not just paint but a newfound pleasure in the textures and flexibilty achieved with plaster and concrete!

 

She has worked along the North Coast in the likes of Zimbali & Mt Edgecombe Estates, Tinley Manor, Netcare hospital and doctors rooms in the asthetics industry. She is constantly working on new concepts leading to her handcrafted and handpainted faux facebrick with the look and texture of real bricks able to fit into most interior spaces; and the development of “fake” tiles for kitchen splashbacks, also handcrafted with cement and painted to give a unique rustic flair! She understands the limits and hassle to renovations and with experience of products is able to transform your kitchen or bathroom into modern and markeatable spaces using nothing but paint.

 

Now armed with a Diploma in Interior Design and a creative, passionate team she is bringing her skills to the Midlands area, with a very hands on and “no challenge is too big” approach.
